July 9-13th 2026
Parry Sound, ON
Â
Immerse yourself in an intimate weekend retreat centred around the beautiful shamanic plant medicine from the Shipibo Conibo and Maya Tribe. Join us at our cottage in Parry Sound, on Parry Island; a First Nations native reserve. The sacredness of this land makes it the perfect setting for healing and transformation.Â
Working in a small group of five during the retreat allows for deeper collaboration and more personalized communication. It also fosters trust and stronger team bonding, leading to more effective outcomes.
Experience 4 shamanic Shipibo ceremonies, flower baths by the lake, cacao exfoliation, flower baths, guided meditations, and so much more!
Ayahuasca is a powerful plant medicine traditionally used by Indigenous peoples of the Amazon for spiritual and healing purposes. It is a brew made from two primary plants: Banisteriopsis caapi (a vine) and Psychotria viridis (a leaf containing the psychedelic compound DMT). The combination allows the psychoactive effects of DMT to be orally active, leading to intense visionary experiences.
The effects of ayahuasca are often described as deeply introspective, emotional, and spiritual. Many who take it report gaining insights into their lives, healing past traumas, or connecting with a higher consciousness. Ceremonies are typically guided by experienced shamans or healers who use songs (icaros), rituals, and protective practices to navigate the spiritual dimensions safely.
Facilitator Sean — The Yoga Medic
Known as The Yoga Medic, I offer trauma-informed mindful movement shaped by frontline service, embodied practice, and a deep respect for the nervous system.
I am trained in a variety of styles, including yin, vinyasa, mindfulness-based movement, and trauma-informed mindful movement. My approach is slow, grounded, and accessible, emphasizing awareness, choice, and presence over performance or intensity.
Before stepping into this work, I served as a paramedic, working in environments where responsibility, urgency, and prolonged stress were part of everyday life. That background continues to inform the way I hold space — steady, practical, and attuned to the realities faced by first responders, healthcare workers, veterans, and those who carry others for a living.
As The Yoga Medic, my intention is to offer practices that support regulation and reconnection through gentle movement and stillness. I meet participants where they are, honoring individual pacing, lived experience, and the wisdom of the body.
Burnout & PTSD —
Holding Space for Those Who Carry a Lot
Burnout and post-traumatic stress are not personal failures. They are often natural responses to prolonged responsibility, repeated exposure, and survival-based living.
Many people who feel drawn to this work have spent years showing up for others — first responders, nurses, veterans, caregivers, helpers, and those accustomed to staying composed under pressure. Over time, the body adapts by remaining alert, functional, and forward-moving, even when rest is needed.
This can be experienced in many ways: fatigue, hyper-vigilance, emotional distance, restlessness, or a quiet sense of disconnection — not because something is wrong, but because the system has been working hard for a long time.
This retreat does not require a diagnosis, a story, or a specific background. PTSD is not a prerequisite. What matters is a willingness to slow down and meet the body with curiosity and care.
Through ceremony accompanied with gentle, trauma-aware practices such as mindful movement, breath awareness, and stillness, participants are invited to reconnect at a pace that feels supportive. Emphasis is placed on choice, safety, and listening, allowing space for regulation, presence, and rest from effort.
This is an invitation to step out of constant doing,
to soften the nervous system,
and to remember what it feels like to simply be.
